The Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Albania

H.E. Mr Mircea Perpelea

Ambassador Perpelea was sworn in as the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Albania on July 22, 2016.

Prior to his assignment, from 2006 to 2016, he worked as Managing Director of the National Bank of Romania (BNR). His overseas postings include Consul and General Consul of the General Consulate of Romania in Marseilles.

After graduating in Electrical Engineering from the University of Craiova, he worked as Chief-engineer of in Ramnicu Valcea, with responsibilities in the energy sector. To improve his proficiency in the energy field, he followed post-graduation courses at the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest.

He attended various technical and economic training courses in the country and abroad.

He is a Professor at the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) in Bucharest, Doctor of Technical Sciences since 1991 and Doctor in Economic Sciences since 2003. Mircea Perpelea’s academic work includes 9 books, over twenty articles for published in scientific journals of Romania, Spain, France, Cyprus, Turkey etc. Furthermore he co-authored two collections of guides and four other works that can be found at the library of the University of Bucharest.

Mr Perpelea has also a public administration experience as Prefect of Valcea County (2000-2003).

Mr Perpelea was born on January 14, 1956. He is married to Doina Perpelea, a mathematics teacher and Doctor of Science. They have two sons, Sebastian and Octavian. He speaks French, Italian and English. He enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with his family.
